If you are reading this I am assuming  you have an interest in Survival Prepping. You may be new to the  community or you may have already begun work on your preparations.  No matter where you are on the journey, I am here to help. As I sit here typing this out, my city is still recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Homes are still being mucked out. People are still without jobs and permanent places to live. Many are suffering from what can only be described as PTSD. We had days of not being able to get some basics including food, water and gasoline. The news coverage was so overwhelming. The reality of it is even worse.

Our family was lucky. No flooding. The water rose to within 2 inches or our garage door. My husband and I could not sleep and kept getting up to check the water levels throughout the night. I can’t tell you how relieved we were when the water did not get in and finally went down. The one comfort we had was that we were geared up and ready to Bug Out if needed. We had a peace during this distressing time knowing that we had prepared ahead of time to get out if we needed to do so.

I began my prepping journey after Hurricane Ike devastated my community and so many others. It was scary. We had about ten days of food on hand, one case of water, a few decorative candles, and a couple of flashlights. Thankfully, my parents lived a few hours away and were not impacted by the storm. I packed up my kids and pets and left my husband behind to protect and try to make needed repairs to our home. We were without electricity for 2 weeks. Pockets of our city had power coming on at intervals. My husband was able to a run a power cord from a neighbor’s home so he had the power to run a fan and the refrigerator. I stayed with my parents for a week before returning with supplies and we hunkered down to wait out the return of power. I had a few days of getting ready for work by candle light and being grateful that my place of employment had electricity and hot running water. I vowed at that time to never be in that type of situation again without being prepared to survive and thrive.

A few quick searches on the web and you find information that is helpful. You can spend hours researching and investigating and still not be sure what to do or how or where to begin your preparations to protect your family. The process can seem overwhelming. I would like to break it down into small steps that will have you prepped and ready simply, effectively and quickly to meet your minimum needs.  I would also love to help you continue your preparations to a level that will allow you and those you love to be safe and well cared for no matter what happens in our world.

So, what now?
The very first thing you need to do is understand the most eminent emergency situation for which you need to prepare. In my case, hurricanes and flooding are the mostly likely natural disasters to affect me and my home and family. What about you?

If a natural disaster hits your area you will need to be sure you have three important areas covered: food, water, and shelter as well as providing for first aid and hygiene needs. You need a Bug Out Bag just in case you have to leave your home. A BOB is bag that contains items needed to help you survive for 3 days away from home.

You will need to plan for a variety of situations, learn skills, and be ready for whatever may come.

Get started now in being prepared by joining my mailing list. As my free gift to you I will send you my complete list to help you take your first step toward preparedness: How to Pack Your Own EDC/ Every Day Carry bag. A EDC bag helps you to deal with normal daily annoyances or  issues that may occur. My list includes a few tried and true daily carry items as well a few you may not have thought of as necessary items which are good to have with you at all times.

I do not have any specialty military or survival training. Everything that I am going to share with you is what I have learned on my own out of a desire to protect the ones I love. If I can do this so can you! On this site, you will be able to learn everything you need to survive and thrive in any situation.

Please check back often for updates and new information.
